お茶の水女子大学では、これまでも授業料の在り方について検討を重ねてまいりましたが、このたび、2027年度以降の入学者を対象とした授業料の改定について、具体的な検討を開始することといたしましたので、お知らせいたします。

本学は、1875年の創設以来、女子教育のフロントランナーとして高度な専門性と豊かな教養を備えた女性人材を育成してきており、人文社会科学と自然科学を横断する教育研究を通じて社会課題の解決に貢献するグローバル女性リーダーの育成を使命として皆様とともに歩んできました。

国立大学法人化以降、本学は運営費交付金の確保をはじめ、外部資金の積極的な獲得、自己収入の増加、諸経費の見直しなどに努め、限られた財源の中から学生のための教育学修環境の整備費用を懸命に捻出してまいりました。

一方で、近年における物価や人件費の上昇に加え、教育研究設備およびICT環境の急速な高度化など、大学を取り巻く環境は大きく変化しています。本学がこれからも社会の変化に対応した教育学修環境を維持し、さらなる充実を図るためには、これまでの取組に加え、将来にわたり教育の質を支える安定的な財源の確保が重要となっています。

本学は、今後も社会からの要請に応え、AI・デジタル技術の発展や多様化する社会課題に向き合いながら、人と社会をつなぎ、新たな価値を創造する女性リーダーを育成してまいります。そのためには、教育の基盤となる教育学修環境の質を維持・向上していくことが不可欠です。

こうした質の高い教育学修環境を将来にわたって持続的に提供するため、基盤的かつ安定的な財源となる授業料の改定について、慎重に検討を進めています。

また、経済的理由によって進学や修学の機会が損なわれることのないよう、本学独自の授業料減免制度や奨学金制度の拡充など、意欲ある学生が安心して学び続けられる支援策についても併せて検討しています。

授業料改定（案）については、学生・教職員をはじめ、卒業生、保護者及びステークホルダーの皆様からいただくご意見・ご要望を踏まえ、丁寧に議論を重ねた上で、10月末を目途に最終的な決定を行う予定です。決定内容につきましては、適切な時期に大学ホームページ等を通じて公表いたします。

2026年度以前に入学した学部生、2027年度以前に入学した博士前期課程学生については、当該課程に在籍している間は現行の授業料の金額を適用
　※在学生の授業料は変更しません、新たに入学又は進学した場合に適用されます
2027年4月以降
　学部（学士課程）入学者
　現行 535,800円 → 改定後 642,960円【107,160円増（現行の20％増）】
　（3年次編入生は学年進行と合わせて2029年4月以降に適用予定）
2028年4月以降
　博士前期課程（修士課程）入学者
　現行535,800円 → 改定後 642,960円【107,160円増（現行の20％増）】
経済的支援の取り組みとして、授業料減免と本学独自奨学金を拡充
博士後期課程（博士課程）の授業料 535,800円は改定しません

Consideration of Proposed Tuition Adjustments for Students Enrolling in Academic Year 2027 and Beyond

Ochanomizu University has been conducting ongoing reviews of our tuition policy, and we announce today that we have decided to begin concrete discussions regarding tuition revisions for students enrolling in the 2027 academic year and beyond.

Ever since its founding in 1875, our university has served as a pioneer in women’s education, nurturing female professionals with advanced expertise and a broad liberal arts education. We have walked alongside our students, guided by our mission to cultivate global female leaders who contribute to solving societal challenges through education and research that bridges the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences.

Since becoming a national university corporation in 2004, our university has strived to secure operational grants, actively acquire external funding, increase our own revenue, and review various expenses. This was all done while working diligently to allocate funds from our limited resources to improve the educational and learning environment for our students.

At the same time, the environment surrounding the university has undergone significant changes, including recent increases in prices and personnel expenses, as well as the rapid advancement of educational and research facilities and the Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) infrastructure. In order for our university to continue maintaining an educational environment that adapts to societal changes and to further enhance it, in addition to our existing efforts, it is essential for us to secure a stable source of funding that will support our high quality of education well into the future.

Moving forward, our university will continue to respond to the needs of society and address the advancements in AI and digital technology. We will also focus on diversifying social challenges, while fostering female leaders who will connect people and society and create new values. To achieve this, it is essential that we maintain and improve the quality of our educational environment, which serves as the foundation of our education.

In order to ensure the continued provision of this high-quality educational environment into the future, we are carefully considering revisions to our current tuition fees as a fundamental and stable source of funding.

Furthermore, to ensure that no student is denied the opportunity to pursue higher education or forced to discontinue their studies due to financial reasons, we are also exploring support measures. These measures include expanding the university’s own tuition waiver and scholarship programs, which will allow motivated students to continue their studies with peace of mind.

Regarding the proposed tuition revision, we plan to make a final decision by the end of October after carefully deliberating on this matter, considering the opinions and requests received from students, faculty and staff, alumni, parents, and other stakeholders. We will announce the details of our decision at an appropriate time via the university website and other channels.

Key Points of the Proposed Tuition Adjustments

For undergraduate students who enrolled prior to the 2026 academic year and master’s students who enrolled prior to the 2027 academic year, the current tuition rates will apply for as long as they remain enrolled in their respective programs.
*Tuition for current students will not change; these rates will apply only to new students or those advancing to the next level of study.
Effective April 2027 and thereafter
Undergraduate (Bachelor’s Program) Entrants
Current: 535,800 yen → Revised: 642,960 yen [Increase of 107,160 yen (20% increase from current rates)]
(For third-year transfer students, the new rates are scheduled to apply starting April 2029, in line with their academic progression)
Starting April 2028
Master’s Program Entrants
Current: 535,800 yen → Revised: 642,960 yen [an increase of 107,160 yen (20% increase from the current rate)]
As part of our financial support initiatives, we are expanding tuition waivers and the university’s own scholarship programs.
Tuition for the Doctoral Program (Ph.D. Program) will remain unchanged at 535,800 yen.
Admission and examination fees will remain unchanged.
